About Cathie Miranda
Just a little bit about me.A native of eastern Long Island, New York, I come from a family of ten. Inspired by my sisters, and encouraged by my art teacher, Mr. Joseph Sullivan, I pursued an interest in pottery. Once my hands were muddy, I was hooked.
My own family was growing, and in 1989 I relocated to the beautiful Shenandoah Valley in Virginia.
In 2001 I enrolled at Lord Fairfax Community College to study technical building and glaze chemistry with Robin Teas. There I earned my Certificate in Ceramics.
Sharing my knowledge and enthusiasm with others helped inspire me to build a studio behind my home in Luray. That’s where you’ll find me most days, making pottery on the wheel and by hand. I continue to give lessons when there’s time.
We opened a gallery in our home, on the first floor, to retail my own pottery and that of other potters. Along with other special hand made gifts, there should be something for everyone.
My pieces are fired in the electric kiln at 2200 Degrees Fahrenheit. I mix my own lead free glazes. All my pottery is dishwater safe and microwavable.
I hope you will enjoy my works.
